ByteDisk

Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 22, 2026

ByteDisk ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website at bytedisk.net and the ByteDisk mobile apps. This policy describes how we collect, use, and share personal information when you use our services.

1. Who this applies to

  • Creators (publishers) who register an account to upload and monetize videos.
  • Viewers who watch videos in our apps (you do not need an account to watch).
  • Visitors to our marketing site and help pages.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Account and profile (publishers)

When you sign up, we collect your email address, display name, and a password hash. We send transactional email (for example verification and password reset) through our email provider. We also create login sessions and may store a session token in your browser's local storage on the web, or equivalent secure storage in the app when you use publisher features from a client that supports them.

2.2 Video content and metadata

We store the video files you upload, generated thumbnails or posters, titles, technical metadata (such as duration and format), and public view counts associated with your content. Media is stored with our cloud storage provider (object storage).

2.3 Payouts

When you request a payout, we collect the payout method you select (such as UPI, Binance, bKash, or Nagad) and the destination details you provide so we can process payment. This is financial and contact information needed to pay you.

2.4 Playback and monetization (viewers and apps)

To operate the service and pay creators fairly, we process data when someone watches a video: approximate network information (for example IP address used for rate limits and abuse prevention), browser or app user agent, watch time reported from the client, a per-playback session identifier, and a pseudonymous device identifier stored on the device (a random ID in app storage—not your name or email) to limit abuse. We may record whether an ad was shown in connection with a playback report where applicable.

2.5 Advertising (mobile apps)

Our Android and iOS apps use Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) to show banners, rewarded, and full-screen formats. Google may use an advertising identifier on your device and similar technologies to measure and personalize ads, subject to your device settings and Google's policies. For more information, see Google's Privacy Policy and how Google uses data when you use our partners' sites or apps.

2.6 Optional features (downloads and Photos)

If you save a downloaded video to your photo library, the operating system may prompt for media or Photos access; that content stays on your device unless you upload it elsewhere.

2.7 Support and communications

If you contact us, we keep the information you send (such as your email and message) so we can respond.

2.8 Server logs

Like most services, our servers receive technical data automatically, such as IP address, request timestamps, and error diagnostics, for security and reliability.

3. How we use information

We use the information above to:

  • Provide hosting, streaming, sharing links, and dashboards for creators.
  • Count views, calculate earnings, detect fraud, and enforce daily limits and session rules.
  • Process and administer payouts.
  • Authenticate accounts, send transactional email, and secure the platform.
  • Deliver and measure ads in our mobile apps through Google.
  • Comply with law, enforce our Terms, and protect users and the service.

4. Legal bases (EEA, UK, Switzerland)

Where GDPR or similar laws apply, we rely on: performance of a contract (providing the service you request); legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, product improvement, and analytics that are not overridden by your rights); consent where required (for example personalized advertising, where applicable); and legal obligations.

5. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share data with:

  • Infrastructure providers who host our application, database, and media (for example cloud storage and computing).
  • Email delivery (Resend) to send account-related messages.
  • Google when ads run in our apps, as described above.
  • Professional advisers where required, and authorities when we believe disclosure is required by law or to protect rights and safety.

6. Retention

We keep information as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service, comply with law, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Some technical logs may be retained for a limited period for security. Aggregated or de-identified information may be kept longer.

7. Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

8. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. Publishers can manage much of their profile in account settings, including requesting account deletion where available. You can opt out of personalized ads on Android and iOS using your device's ads settings (for example Google's "Opt out of Ads Personalization" on Android). You may also contact us using the details below.

9. Children

ByteDisk is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country to consent to data processing). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

10. International transfers

We may process and store information in countries other than where you live. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for cross-border transfers.

11. Third-party services and stores

If you install our app from Google Play, Apple's App Store, or another store, that store's collection and use of information is governed by its own policies. Installing or purchasing through a store may also subject you to the store operator's terms.

12. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and adjust the "Last updated" date. For material changes, we will provide additional notice as appropriate.

13. Copyright and DMCA

If you believe content on ByteDisk infringes your copyright, please see our DMCA Policy for information on how to file a notice.
